This year as we celebrate our 150th Anniversary, the ATWC is as focused on the future as it is on the past. Each year we come into contact with around 5000 people in the Auckland community. We see first hand that too many babies and infants start life without the sense of security that stems from a healthy relationship with a parent or care giver. Research shows that the quality of these early relationships has an enormous impact on behaviour in later life. By the time a child is at school, their experience of relationships and interactions with others in society has already been influenced. Early intervention is critical to help a baby grow into a well adjusted child and adult when there has been a disrupted or unhealthy care giver relationship.
To meet this growing need, the ATWC is expanding and developing its Attachment Services to mark its 150th Anniversary. But we need your financial help to make this a reality. It is in all our interests to help those who need support in developing healthy (secure) attachment relationships with their children and to help create strong supportive families.
I hope you will give generously to support the expansion of our Attachment Services. We can’t think of a better way to celebrate our 150th Anniversary than to look to the future.
What needs to be done?
The ATWC needs to raise $500,000 this year to fund the expansion of our Attachment Services. We then require $200,000 per annum to continue supporting our local families relationships and making a difference to our community’s future.
This money would be used to fund
- The expansion of our Attachment Services model based on international best practice but tailored to suit local clients in Auckland
- The appointment and specialist training of two child psychotherapists
- The establishment of a clinic facility where child psychotherapists can meet with clients
How you can help
ATWC relies on generous donations to deliver its services in the area of attachment relationships and the unique and lasting emotional ties between infants and their caregivers. These services need the support of organisations and individuals. All donations of $5.00 and over are tax deductible.
