Seasons Grief and Loss Groups for Children

Seasons is a programme of peer support groups for young people who are experiencing loss or grief.
This may be due to the loss of someone close to them, the separation or divorce of their parents, or changes in their location. Seasons groups are available for children aged 5-12, and young people up to 18 yrs.
"Seasons" groups meet once a week for an hour over 10 weeks.
Grief and loss can affect children in many different ways.
Some of the issues which may arise include:
- Anger
- Depression
- Low Self-Esteem
- Learning Difficulties
- Cultural Issues
- Aggressive Behaviour
The Seasons programme is available to children and young people from all ethnic and spiritual backgrounds.
Seasons
Most importantly, Seasons is about peer support - often the greatest benefit is working with others who are experiencing similar things.
Seasons groups are facilitated by trained professionals who have had some personal experience of grief and loss. This gives understanding of how grief impacts on people’s lives, how it has shaped each of us and also the values and beliefs that have come from the grief experiences.
The Seasons group is limited to five children, to allow space to examine their own individual grief experience with support and acceptance.
This space and support has a positive effect on the person’s ability to achieve academically, and relate to others.
