Counselling Services

Counselling assists people to learn more about themselves and their relationships and to bring about changes they wish to make in their lives. Counsellors may work with individuals, couples or families.

Sessions usually last an hour to one and a half hours. The terms counselling or therapy may be used.
Some counsellors will focus on exploring current issues and making choices. Sometimes it is helpful to explore past experiences in order to resolve issues and move forward. Feel free to ask your counsellor how they would approach counselling with you.

ATWC Counselling Service is available to people from all ethnic and spiritual backgrounds

ATWC has a team of trained counsellors/therapists who:

• Have tertiary qualifications
  
• Are members of a professional association
  
• Work with high professional and ethical standards
  
• Have a wide range of experience working with individuals, couples and families

Some of our counsellors are accredited for ACC-funded sexual abuse counselling.

Appointments

For an appointment you do not need a referral from anyone. Just telephone (09) 276 - 3729

Fees

Individual counselling
$75.00 per session
Co-therapy
$150.00 per session

The ATWC has a sliding scale of fees based on what you can afford. This is negotiable and will be discussed with you at your first interview.
We may also be able to assist with accessing other
sources of funding.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality is maintained.
The only exception is when there is some risk to either the client or others. This would be discussed with the client.
